These are the Days: Volume 1, Issue 1

It’s dark and cloudy outside. NorCal’s expecting another storm tomorrow. I haven’t left the house all day (thanks new cycle) and the words are bubbling up, so let’s try this weekly reflection that Emily P. Freeman talks about and see how it goes for me. Memories from the week of Sunday, March 6th to yesterday, Saturday, March 13th.

These are the days of…

…coffee mugs hanging on the wall and a new love for old fashioned chocolate donuts with walnuts and 1 Thessalonians…

…for sunshine and selfies and clothes that make me feel like a rock star…

…Disney+ premieres with friends and popcorn machines, soda and candy, and a card game called The Coldest Night…

…ball caps that represent the better days of heaven and Revelation 21:4

“Then I heard a loud voice from the throne: ‘Look God’s dwelling is with humanity, and he will live with them. They will be his peoples, and God himself will be with them and will be their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; grief, crying, and pain will be no more, because the previous things have passed away.’ Then the one seated on the throne said, ‘Look, I am making all things new.'”

– Revelation 21:3-5, Christian Standard Bible (CSB)

…and rings that serve as a reminder that my weaknesses can serve God’s power. (still working on that “taking pleasure in” part #getaftergrowth)

“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in your weakness.’ Therefore, I will most gladly boast in my weaknesses so that Christ’s power may reside in me. So I take pleasure in weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and in difficulties, for the sake of Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

– Paul in his second letters to the Corinthians, 2 Corinthians 12: 9-10, CSB

…And that I can be a human who wears three rings haha…

…for cats that seek out and sleep in the laundry basket…

…of good office talks with a co-worker that’s a real life friend…

…for going to the dentist twice in one week. Once for the initial let’s-use-my-insurance appointment and then for the cleaning. (Four fillings to be taken care of next month!)…

…for being a team player and being flexible at work and covering for one of our of-site groups 2 1/2 days this week…

…and then for working through the emotions that come from being helpful and flexible and really good at my job #getaftergrowth…

…for super cool t-shirts that my super cool talented friend made!…

…for snow on Wednesday morning and sunshine on Friday. (Welcome to NorCal, everyone!)…

…for staying up late and finishing White Fang on Tuesday…

…for supporting the sister in a new side business and taking hair quizzes online…

….for seeing friends after Bible Study and helping with jammies…

…for Ant learning new things at work and having work to fill his day…

…for sunshine Fridays and Flour Garden’s dark roast house blend…

….for seeing my first job coaching client in Downtown Grass Valley, in the job we started at together, and for her still remembering me and her still rocking it at work 2 1/2 years later…

…for thinking about the future…

…for local book stores and local kitchen stores, children’s books, and a new Ravenclaw notebook…

…for buying a new pillow and for Theresa remembering us from two years ago when we bought our mattress…

…for homemade spaghetti dinners and playing Small World twice in one week…

…for finishing Flame in the Mist a send time so that I can start the sequel. (Seriously, why couldn’t two-book series be a thing a long time ago?)…

…for sleeping in on Saturday, folding laundry, and chocolate croissants and coffee for breakfast…

…for making my first reel on Instagram…

…for Dave Barnes music all week…

…for iced chai lattes with light ice and the bright pink drink Ant ordered from Dutch Bros. (the hyper-chrome frost!)…

…for following Sawyer around the park as he crawls around on dirt and grass and sidewalks and pauses to see if you’ll say anything about the rock he’s pretending to put in his mouth…

…for sunshine and slides and a five-year old nieces that wants me to carry her and drive me home and to hang out at Papa and Tutu’s with her and share her goldfish with me…

…for helping the goddaughter ride on her bike and Auntie capturing the memory on video so I have it forever…

…for the way Ember says “Tracy” and “Anthony”…

…for balloon shopping and homemade cupcakes and a Wreck-it-Ralph themed party in the park…

…for coffee and Ant learning french press tips…

…for hugs and seeing friends and family out in the world in the sunshine…

…for Sawyer playing with bubbles and balloons…

…for laughter and short jokes…

…for popcorn and starting Star Wars V: The Empire Strikes Back

…and then for falling asleep during the movie cuddled up next to Ant and going to bed at 9pm…

Wow. That was beautiful and refreshing and I kind of loved it. What a a beautiful way to reflect on a week.

“This is the day the LORD has made; let’s rejoice and be glad in it.” – Psalm 118:24, CSB

Writing Notes:
