Remember when I wrote 50,000+ words last November and I told you all I was going to write about it? And then never finished the ending? Well, this post is the almost-conclusion. Because NaNoWriMo is back (in eight days!) and I’ve gotten a burst to finish last year’s series out 🙂
This post is made up of the updates I posted on my writer’s Facebook page and Twitter as I stopped to take breaks. I get real numbers crunchy in these posts. It was fun to post these updates.

Update 1, 10:04am
Didn’t sleep well last night, so I woke up later than planned. (But I needed it, so giving myself grace for it.)
Took food up to a friend’s house.
Back home: ate breakfast, took care of the cats, showered, washed my face. “It’s all self-care,” I repeated over and over to myself as tHE minutes to write this morning before my part-time job slowly whittled away. “It’s all self-care.”
Coffee? Check!
Water? Check!
I’m going to write from 10am to Noon today. Focus Mode in Word activated *confetti* see you back here with an update!
Update 2, 12:20pm
In the last 63 mins of writing: 3,538 words were written.
Less than a thousand words to be at today’s minimum word count.
Words between me and the official word goal of 50,000: 5,414
This. Actually. Might. Be. Doable.
Stopping for now. Gotta pack my lunch and then walk over to the daycare.
I’ll be back tonight after dinner 🙂
Happy Tuesday friends =D
12:30pm // Whoops! Math is hard. 123 minutes, not 63 mins. I wrote for two hours.
Update 3, 8:12pm
After work I answered an email, sent some texts, and tried my first-ever duotrigordle puzzle. Like Wordle, but with 32 grids instead of just one. It was cool! Then the next episode of Malcom in the Middle with Ant while we ate dinner.
At 6:30, I sat down to write and already felt so tired. But I kept telling myself, “I just want to write 1,000 more words today.”
I moved to the couch, hoping the change of writing scenery would help.
Distracted by Instagram for a bit.
Then came back and really focused on writing for the next 20 mins.
In the last hour and a half-ish, I wrote 969 words.
I’ve officially met my daily minimum for the day, but I want to reach that 1,000-more-words goal.
But first, an apple pie and ice cream break =D
Update 4, 11:37pm

I’ve lost count of which number update this is. It’s 11:30pm and I should be in bed. But I just kept writing. From 8:55pm to 11:28pm 3,458 words were written.
Today’s NaNo overall goal is 48,333.
I surpassed it.
For the first time since Day 6 I am ahead.
My manuscript is at a total of 49,013 words.
I could go write the 987 words to get me to 50,000. But I want to savor this. And I’m tired. I know what I’m writing tomorrow and that’s half the battle.
I’m going to do it you guys. This little story idea that I’ve had for like five years now is coming to fruition. It’s the greatest thing. I’ve teared up a couple times in the last hour or so just so grateful that I believed in myself to write 20,000+ words since Saturday.
Total words written today: 7,965
I can’t even. Thank you, God, for this burst of determination.
The original plan was to write for a little bit before my morning shift at the daycare, but I think I’ll prioritize sleep now. And cross that 50,000-word finish line tomorrow afternoon 🙂
Thank you so much for following along and cheering me on 🙂
Goodnight ❤
